Materials are what make our products special

01 — Grown and made in Baltimore

Building a regenerative future means supporting local communities. Our products are built with what we can grow in our own region. We are dedicated to supporting visionary farmers and loggers who grow our materials in a way that gives back to our local ecosystems. Our manufacturing partners for the Oka chair are all within the city limit.

02 — Regenerative Wool

We source our wool from local farms in Maryland and Pennsylvania who practice regenerative agriculture. These partner farms raise their sheep in a way that actually improves the soil and biodiversity of their land while providing high quality wool for our felt fabrics. Small fiber mills process this wool into felt and other batting materials. By purchasing and processing directly from these farms and mills we are supporting our regional fiber supply chain.

03 — Carbon Smart Wood™

Our wood comes from fallen lumber within Baltimore city limits that would otherwise go to landfill or be chipped. Our lumber partner in Baltimore has created a new category of sustainable wood that goes beyond conventional timber harvest and certification. By using this wood, we are reducing the demand for newly harvested wood and helping to preserve our natural forests for future generations.

04 — Local Hemp Production

Hemp as been used in furniture for thousands of years but is often forgotten by today's furniture manufacturers. It has the ability to sequester carbon and heal soil with its production. We are working with east coast mills and rope makers to facilitate both the growing and production of hemp in our region.

05 — Waste Wool

Every year hundreds of thousands of tons of wool are discarded because it doesn’t meet the standard of softness or color that is demanded in the industry. We capture this waste wool from regenerative farms and use it for cushioning materials instead of seating foams
